We’re a passionate collective of Mudgee Performing Arts Society women based in Mudgee, in New South Wales’ Mid‑West region, united by the belief that art and performance can change perspectives, eradicate prejudice, and bring the most unlikely people together to stand up for what’s right. Founded by 2 fabulous Mudgee women of the Mudgee Performing Art Society, this festival aims to shine a light on one of the region’s most prominent and pressing issues.

Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate based on wealth, location, or ethnicity. Sadly, it’s the experience of too many women in Australia, with more than one a week dying at the hands of someone intimately known to them, including women in our own region.

In the week leading up to International Women’s Day, the Mudgee Performing Arts Society are staging a theatrical event in Mudgee to shine a light on the varied experiences of women and raise much needed funds for domestic violence support services in our region.

Support services for women and children in crisis are essential. However, most services are grossly underfunded and are reliant on volunteers, donations and other community support. So, we’re doing something about that!

What She Said is taking to the stage - a night of performances produced by women - with all proceeds going to local support services through Mid West People Against Violence, to continue their valuable work. 

This event is a platform for performative works, both original interpreted, that encompasses the female experience in all its hilarious and heartbreaking forms.

We hope to awaken and inspire our audience to stand up and take action to stop this crisis plaguing our region. Together, we’ll use laughter, narrative, and raw emotion to spark conversation, connection, and ultimately, change.
